Trio Fibonacci made its first appearance on the Canadian music scene in 1998, with the press reporting that “to hear them is to enter into the world of miracles” (Le Devoir, Montreal). The trio is internationally recognized for its brilliant interpretations of the entire piano trio repertoire, from the works of Haydn through to collaborations with over sixty living composers on four continents.

Quartteto Gelato has performed sold-out concerts around the world, appeared with the major North American orchestras, and produced 11 CD’s reflecting their signature style of multi-instrument mastery, humour, and virtuosity. Their music has been heard on Hollywood soundtracks and on board the NASA space shuttle Columbia, from where they were heard, literally, around the world. This unique ensemble features an oboist (who is also a Cirque de Soleil acrobat and musical theatre actor), a Serbian violinist, and award-winning finish accordionist and a wandering cellist.

Morgan Toney combines the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with his Mi’kmaq (me-ga-mah) Roots. With this blend of two cultures, Morgan Toney and his Co-Hort Keith Mullins created a new genre of music, which they call Mi’lmaltic. First Flight, Toney’s award nominated debut album, celebrates language and heritage in Toney’s transformation of traditional songs like the Ko’jua and the Mi’kmaq Honour Song alongside highly original song craft.

Those in search of the unexpected need look no further than this Asian-influenced jazz ensemble featuring compositions inspired by leader Huu Bac Quach’s travels in Asia, Europe, and South America. The combination is a masterful and incandescent blend of cultures. This is jazz with an eclectic twist, as contrasting musical traditions intertwine in a seamless listening experience. Each instrument catches the inflections of the others, echoing them back in a punchy and frequently light-hearted interplay of sound. If only all cross-culture conversations were as smooth as this one!
